Robin Hood

"There is no difference between a knight and any other man aside from what he wears." -Robin Hood, We believe Robin Hood wanted everyone to have a fair and equal chance, and that it's about the person underneath the clothes and armor that matters, Robin Hood makes people look back and take a look at themselves, and their hearts. So we rate this movie a 4 out of five because we didn't exactly like the beggining of the movie but once it really got going we liked the overall plot.

In the 13th century of England, Robin and his  men confront corruption in a village and lead an uprising against the crown that will always now on alter the balance of world power, during that time that is. We loved all the action in this flim and that it gave us a great look on how they used to fight in our past history. The Director was: Ridley ScottWriters were: Brian Helgeland (screenplay), Brian Helgeland (story) Some of the cast were:
The Genre of this movie were Action, Adventure and Drama and if you even watch the movie they are displayed were well!

The cast was:

Russell Crowe ...
Cate Blanchett ...
Max von Sydow ...
William Hurt ...
Mark Strong ...
Oscar Isaac ...
Danny Huston ...
Eileen Atkins ...
Mark Addy ...

Long live the king! When King Richard The Lionheart died was the rising action for us because it desplayed how things would ever much start to change, especially when a new, younger king taking over! The Climax to us was when robin and the new king pretty much joined together and helped the village, it made us realize how they had to work together to make things go smoothly. Then theres the falling action, to us that was when they were all fighting on the huge beach, known as North Yorkshire Coast. Although there was so much action to pick from those are some of which that stood out to us.

When Robin Hoods girl, Mariron Loxley was fighing  the man who killed the blind man (which to us was unbelievable that someone would do such a thing) was very outstanding to us that she would take on such a duty, it scared us when she almost died, but Robin came and saved her! One symbols to that really stood out was that King Richard was a good king and rode a white horse.

Maid Marian: "This means I must make a wish. I wish against wish, I hope against hope, that the heavens bring me a kind and wonderful gentleman who possesses the key to my...heart" We really liked the fact that Robin and Marian were together, and that later on when they were sent away from the village that they had there own little town that didn't have rules and was very laid back, it really makes you wonder what it would be like if our towns and cities where like that.

"There is no difference between a knight and any other man aside from what he wears." -Robin Hood, We believe Robin Hood wanted everyone to have a fair and equal chance, and that it's about the person underneath the clothes and armor, that matters, Robin Hood makes people look back and take a look at themselves, and their hearts. We liked this movie and and all the action, would someday think about watching it again.

Taken

Seventeen year-old Kim is everything to her father, Bryan Mills. Bryan is a retired agent who left the Central Intelligence Agency to be near his daughter Kim  in California. Kim lives with her mother Lenore and her rich stepfather Stuart. Kim gets her strict yet aware father to allow her to go to Paris with her friend Amanda. Bryan was totally against her going. She had to lie to him that she was going to go look at art when she was there. She was actually going to follow her favoite band, but she managed to do it.

When the girls arrive in Paris they allow this guy named Peter take a picture of them. They also share a cab with the stranger,  Peter.  Amanda lets it slip that they will be alone in Paris. With this information an Albanian gang of human traffickers kidnaps the girls. While she sees her friend Amanda get taken, Kim barely has time to her father and give him the information. Her father got to speak to one of the kidnappers for a little bit  and he promises to kill the kidnappers if they do not let his daughter go free. The kidnapper wishes him "good luck,"  so Bryan Mills travels to Paris to search for his daughter and her friend. He uses his intellegence and his CIA skills to find his daughter, although some say may think he had superpowers, we think it was a mixture of both! We give this movie a 5 out of 5. It had a good story line and we really liked all the action, we also think the genre of this movie is suspense and action!
The Director was: Pierre Morel Writers: Luc Besson, Robert Mark Kamen, and we think they did a great job!

Cast:

Liam Neeson ...
Maggie Grace ...
Leland Orser ...
Jon Gries ...
David Warshofsky ...
Holly Valance ...
Katie Cassidy ...
Xander Berkeley ...
Olivier Rabourdin ...
Gérard Watkins ...
Famke Janssen ...
Marc Amyot ...
Arben Bajraktaraj ...
Radivoje Bukvic ...
Anton (as Rasha Bukvic)
Mathieu Busson ...

Therisingaction of this movie is when the girls get kidnapped. Once Bryan got off the phone with his daughter he was on his way to Paris. He recorded the conversation. When he got to the place where they were staying he walked around tying to find where the girls got taken. The climax of this movie was when he was killing everyone and finding all the clues to get his daughter. He killed alot of people and did what ever he could to find her. He played alot of mindless tricks on the bad guys so they couldnt find him. The failng action was when he found his daughter and went on the ship to get her. He killed most of the people on that ship. When he got to the room that she was in, a big guy had a knife to her throat. Bryan killed him and saved his daughter. She said. "you came for me."

The ending of this movie was very predictable. We figured that the girl was going to be safe. All in all we really liked this movie and we gave it a 5 out of 5. We really thought it was a good movie and very intertaining.  It also gave us a different outlook towards the world and made us aware. When you think about the situations that brain was in and his training and killing/hurting of all the people do you think what was virtuous? or was he just getting what he wanted? Now ask yourself what is virture?

V for Vendetta

"People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people."-V Have you ever wondered what it would be like if the people around you came together to stand up for something they beleive in? Would there be chaos? Death of loved ones? Or simply just a stop to it? Whatever it is and whereever it is, in school, work or life in general V believed you needed to come together, have a stonger meaning behind it and have hope. We rated this movie a 5 out of 5 because it showed us different views and it was meaningful.

V for Vendetta The genre for this movie was drama and it was definitely. It was so exciting to watch that you never even wanted to stop! There were many Symbols in this movie; such the numbering and his name beingV meaning 5 for the 5th of November. We think the rose was also a symbol because of blood or because V was so touched by the two girls love, both of which have died. When V  played beethoven the fifth was also a huge symbol that goes about with the plot. The director was James McTeigue Writers: Andy Wachowski (screenplay), Lana Wachowski (screenplay).
Natalie Portman ...
Hugo Weaving ...
V
Stephen Rea ...
Stephen Fry ...
John Hurt ...
Tim Pigott-Smith ...
Rupert Graves ...
Roger Allam ...

The story starts off  with a freedom fighter known only as "V"  who uses terrorist ways to fight against his totalitarian society. When he saves a girl from the secret police although he falls in love with this women, evey and goes to continue on with his plans.

First V blows up the Old Bailey building which for us was the Rising action, although it was difficult to pick this because this movie was action filled, we loved the way they used the music to go along with the explosions. V 's main mission was to blow up the Paralment to show England that they need to come together and need hope, not just a building. This reason made V have many followers, and having Evey made everything come together.

The Climax was when everyone was scared and wondering if this would really happen. V had got everyone exactly where he wanted them. He made made the city go insane, with the murders he had along with mystery of who is was made the people pick a side. If they would go with the government or stick up for what they believe in. This made us wonder, what's next?

"My turn"-V When everything was coming to an end V put up a huge fight until of which became the end of him.  For us, we both agree the falling action was when V came back to where Evey was and died, but the plan still followed through by Evey. This happened by a Subway being full of expolsives which was going to go through and from underneath to blow up the Paraliment making an incredible Bang! and fireworks making it a great show for the City. V was laid inside the subway with roses next to him, with Evey pulling the triger he would be sent off to be part of the show.

Evey: "We are told to remember the idea, not the man. Because a man can fail. He can be caught, he can be killed and forgotten. But 400 years later an idea can still change the world." We really like this quote because it is true, and it tells us that V is just human and still has problems just like the rest of us. We both really loved also when Evey Said:"He was Edmond Dantes. And he was my father and my mother... my brother... my friend. He was you... and me. He was all of us." Because that again just shows us that he is true and although he may not be virtuous because all the killing he has done and the way he went about things he's still just a person.

"People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people."-Have you ever wondered what it would be like if the people around you came together to stand up for something they beleive in? Would there be chaos? Death of loved ones? Or simply just a stop to it? Whatever it is and whereever it is, in school, work or life in general believed you needed to come together, have a stonger meaning behind it and have hope. Now ask yourself...are you standing up for what you believe in?

Slumdog Millionaire

"Money and women. The reasons for making most mistakes in life. Looks like you've mixed up both" Police officer. Although Jamal one of the lead actor ends up getting both to make him secure and happy, the money and the girl. Throughout Slumdog Millionaire there were hard times, good times, and lots of great points. We especially were found of the way that the good honest guy in the movie ended up with the better life. We rated this movie 4 stars out of 5 because of its great storyline and views.

The Directors were : Danny Boyle, Loveleen Tandan and the Writers were Simon Beaufoy (screenplay), Vikas Swarup (novel)

Dev Patel ...
Saurabh Shukla ...
Anil Kapoor ...
Rajendranath Zutshi ...
Director (as Raj Zutshi)
Jeneva Talwar ...
Freida Pinto ...
Irrfan Khan ...
According to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1010048/

The Genre of this movie was Drama and Romance, which really was showed throughout the movie. For an expample when the village got invaded and along side that when Jamal's love never died out for Latika. This movie is about an 18-year old boy, orphan, from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to a great chance to change in life. With the everyone going crazy and watching him, he is just one question away from winning 20 million rupees on India's Kaun Banega Crorepati or Who Wants To Be A Millionaire! But he is suspected for cheating and gets treated horribly and to prove he isn't he tells them his story, his past and his memories about his childhood and the hardships and great times he has had with his brother and Latika.

It is hard for us to pick a rising action. Why? Because throughout the movie there where so many events that could be the rising action. Jamal experieced a lot of difficult hardships. After getting called a cheater for knowing answers that some street kid should know. We also think the rising action could be when the host of India's Kaun Banega Crorepati (Who Wants To Be A Millionaire) writes a wrong answer on the mirror of the bathroom so Jamal can be done. Jamal was smarter than the host that he was and Jamal did not us that answer that was given. Also we thought that when Jamal's brother kicked him out of the hotel room was another rising action. They were so many examples and hardships that led to the climax.

Jamal is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees. After hearing that final question we both decided that it was the climax of the movie. Jamal was stumped after hearin the last question. The last question was a name of one of the 3 Muskateers. Flash backs showed that Salim, Latika, and Jamal were reading a book about that. Still not knowing the answer he decided to use one of his lifelines and called his brother, Salim. Little did Jamal know that his brother gave Latika his phone to go to Jamal. When Latika heard that Jamal was calling his brother, she realized that she had the phone and she raced back to the car to answer it. Jamal was so surprized when she answerd it. Latika did not know the question though. After talking to her he simply remember the answer and won the 20 million rupees!

After winning the 20 million rupees Jamal headed towards the train station and there he saw that Latika was waiting for him. Jamal repeatedly stateted  that it was there "destiny" to be together. Even though it was the end of the movie it was the falling action.

"Doctors.. Lawyers... never get past 60 thousand rupees. He's won 10 million. What can a slumdog possibly know?- Police Inspector. This quote is simply saying if you had nothing you know know nothing. It proves that just because you grew up somewhere where there is less money, its dirty, viloence, drugs, all around not a good place you will get no where in life. This movie really proved to us that if you come from slums, hood, not a good place you can still have a chance in things that doctors, wealthy, educated people know. Slumdog Millionaire was a fantastic movie and the director did a great job getting his message out. So dont think that just because you weren't born into money or grew up in the slums, that you cant pull through and do something big in your life.

The Graduate

"It's like I was playing some kind of game, but the rules don't make any sense to me. They're being made up by all the wrong people. I mean no one makes them up. They seem to make themselves up.” –Ben The  Graduate is about  a young man who doesn’t know what the next step of his life should be and it gets pretty messy with some of this choices.  To us this movie was a pretty good, overall, although if we didn’t have to watch it we probably wouldn’t have.  We rated this movie a 3.5 out 5 because of the slow moving  pace, and some of the acting, although we did like the music.

The main cast according to http://www.starpulse.com/Movies/Graduate,_The/Cast_and_Crew/ is:
Dustin Hoffman - (Benjamin Braddock)
Anne Bancroft - (Mrs. Robinson)
Katharine Ross - (Elaine Robinson)
William Daniels - (Mr. Braddock)
 Elizabeth Wilson - (Mrs. Braddock)
The Director was Mike Nichols, and the writers were Calder Willingham, Buck Henry. The genre of this movie is comedy and it definatley fits it; although some of the scences like in the church at the end are a little out of hand we still thought this movie was very funny. We liked almost all the acting except Dustin Hoffans monotone voice. Some of the symbals were when they gave Ben a scuba suit and wouldn't let him out of the pool and pushed him down with the pressure of the water surrondering him, we think this is a symbal because Ben had so many decisions to make in his life and so much pressure from his family, just like the water pressure.

The rising action to us would be with Mrs. Robinson started to come onto Ben at his graduate party, her alone with him in the bedroom was just the start of all the unappropriate scences in this movie. We think this movie was about sex and doing things you would never think of doing back in this time period. It really shows how times were and have changed.

The Climax was definatly when Ben called Mrs.Robinson to began his sexual relations with her at the hotel, that was just the start of many times to come with her, which later on Ben really regreted. At first we didn't think that Ben was going to do this because the Robinsons were old family friends with his parents for. However we think Ben did this because he was under so much pressure and losing his way in life.

The falling action for us started with Mrs. Robinson threatening him that he couldn't see her daughter, Elaine, later on Ben falls in love with her. Ben at first didn't even want to but was foreced to either take her out or his parents would have the entire family over, just think of that awkwardness. It was unbelieveable how much Ben had to try with Elaine she had him around her finger along with Carl. For us more of the falling action was when Ben scearched forever to finally find Elaine at the alter marrying another man. Although she didn't go through with it because there was a huge up roar and a family fight, we can't forget the crucible! At the end of all the madness we see Ben and Elaine on the bus where they finally escaped to with the look on their face like they had no idea what to do or what the next step was. We think they ended up getting married.

"It's like I was playing some kind of game, but the rules don't make any sense to me. They're being made up by all the wrong people. I mean no one makes them up. They seem to make themselves up.” –Ben The  Graduate is about breaking the rules and starting to go against your parents, against society and do the things you'd never really think you would do, during this time there was alot of rebellian. The movie really showed us how generations change and how they always will continue too.

Psycho

Could you ever imagine what it would be like to have multiple personalities? The movie Psycho demonstrates how you can pretend to be something your not, how your actions can turn back on you and that not being honest will get in you trouble regardless to what the events are. We rate this movie a 5 stars out of 5. The reason we like this movie so much is because it started the entire series of horror flims, and we really liked the acting.

Psycho was Directed by Alred Hitchcock.Starring Anothony Perkins, Vera Miles, John Gavin. The genre of this movie is drama, thiller, mystery and of course horror!  It all started with a Phoenix women who worked in an office, named Marion Crane who is tired and worked up with the way life has been treating her. Marion and her boyfriend Sam can't get married because Sam has to give all his money away to his ex wife from the divorce, thats why he couldn't marry Marion. One afternoon Marion is trusted by her employeer for 10 years to bank $40,000. Noticing she could take the money and start over, Marion leaves town and heads away to Sam in California . Tired after the long drive through a storm, she gets off the old main highway and stays at The Bates Motel, which soon will be the end of her and the beggining of a twisted mystery. The motel is managed by a creepy young man named Norman Bates. He is a skitzo who supposively has a crazy mother that messes with his mind.

The rising action for us was when Marion took the money and left, then arrived in at the Bates Motel. The Climax was when he killed Marion in the shower and then made us think it was his mother instead of really Norman, himself also when he killed the private investagator who was hired to figure out the case. The falling action was when Marions sister and her boyfriend Sam went as a couple to the Bates Motel and bust the case of Norman really being psycho and having multiple personalities, and his mother truely dead.

"She was there, but she was a corpse. So he began to think and speak for her. Give her half his life, so to speak. At times he could be both personalities, carry on conversations. At other times, the mother half took over completely. Now he was never all Norman. But he was often only mother." Dr. Fred RichmondWe thought it was Alfred Hitchcock did a really good job making it a surprise that there really was no mother in this movie. The twist really surprised both of us and made us like the movie even more. Although we thought the taxadermy was very creepy, at the begnning we felt sorry for Norman; thinking his mother really was insane but then when we figured out it was Norman and thought he need some serious help. Also we thought that the shower scene was a little corny with her making all those weird faces. A symbol of the movie was when Marion was murdered her eye was looking straight at the money, either longing for it or wanting to return it.

"…I’ll just sit here and be quiet, just in case they do suspect me. They’re probably watching me. Well, let them. Let them see what kind of a person I am. I’m not even going to swat that fly. I hope they are watching. They’ll see. They’ll see and they’ll know and they’ll say, ‘Why, she wouldn’t even harm a fly…." Norman Bates. This is ironic because Norman thinks no one suspects him and really believes he is innocent, when really he's the master mind behind all the murders. This quote really makes the end of this movie CREEPY along with him running down the stairs  as his "mother" to the cellar to kill Marion's sister, but when Sam knock Norman unconcious and saving Marion's sister.

Could you ever imagine what it would be like to have multiple personalities? To live alone and have no family members, no one to talk to and having the death of others on your hands? the movie Psycho shows us all of these things and how it can ware on a person to make them go insane. So now as yourself, Who really are you?!!

Citizen Kane

Rosebud. What could something so simple mean so much to someone, that they say it when they are about ready to pass away?  The meaning behind rosebud signafies Mr. Kane's childhood. During the entire play we were curious about what rosebud meant however it finally came full circle to us. We gave this movie four stars out of five. The reason why was because we liked the fact he made something out of himself although he seemed confused at some points and misunderstood. Although Kane had a rough childhood he got over it and accomplished many things.

The genre of this movie is definatley drama. The leading actor/actresses are Orson Welles, Joseph Cotten, Dorothy Comingore, Everett Sloane. The supporting actors/actresses George Coulouris, Ruth Warrick, Agnes Moorehead, Harry Shannon, William Alland, Ray Collins. The director and producer was Orson Welles. Some of the symbolism in this movie would be the rosebud that never really grew up, and blossomed, which to us was like Kane, he never really got to live his childhood the way that would have satisfied him.

The rising action to us is when Jim Getty threatens Kane to be out of the race for govner, when Kane's wife and Susan Alexander were in the room.  The climax to us was that later on in the movie Susan and Kane got married, meaning Kane left his wife for her. When Kane loses the the election and his relationship with Susan is coming to an end is the falling action to us.

Mr.Kane is like both of our dads, we feel that if you would have a conversation with him, it would be all business and it's really all about money. Although Kane is a very caring man and wants his loved ones to be happy he doesn't exactly know the right way to show it, he might just buy them something to show it when really that's not what your looking for; what their looking for is a different kind of love, an emotional love. We feel as if Kane is only happy if he buys his happiness because of his lost chilhood. He is missing something important in his heart. He trys to fill it by getting statues or buying pointless items.

"If I hadn't been very rich, I might have been a really great man." (Kane) We think he said this because he might have had to work harder if he didn't get sold off into a rich family and get everything handed to him. Overall we really liked Citizen Kane because we could relate well to it and it and liked the symbolizism. It's a  great example of how people can't be happy when they buy there happiness,  they need their family, friends, and self confidence to be happy.

Gone With The Wind

"Frankley my dear, I just don't give a damn", is one of the most famous quotes that has been among us for decades, from Clark Gable, formally known as Rhett Bulter; one of the main leads in the flim Gone with the Wind. To us that's just frankley how we feel. It's not one of our favorites although we know that this movie was one of the best in its time it just wasn't for us, but we didn't mind it it's great, clear, historical views gave us a taste of how it was back in the 1930's so we rate Gone with the Wind 3 stars out of 5.

Gone with the wind was directed by Victor Fleming, George Cukor (uncredited), Sam Wood (uncredited), and William Cameron Menzies (credited as Production Designer). The leading actors and actresses were:Vivien Leigh, Clark Gable, Leslie Howard, and Olivia de Havilland. The supporting roles were played by: Hattie McDaniel, Thomas Mitchell, Barbara O’Neil, Ona Munson, Butterfly McQueen, Alicia Rhett, Evelyn Keyes, and Carroll Nye. The Genre to this movie was romance, war, and of course drama.

To us the start of the rising action was when we figured out that Scarlett (Vivien Leigh) was in love with Ashley Wilkes (Leslie Howard) who didn't have the same feelings as she did, and he was in love with another women. All of this coming together along with the Civil War just made drama! Scarlet had a feature in her that would never give up on Ashley; it might be that she was so strong-willed and greedy that she always had to get what she wanted. Overall we liked Scarlet as a character.

What really got our attention was the climax. When Scarlet went back home to Tara, Atlanta, her family and all she left behind was just one of the exciting parts in the flim, having to go through the parts of the city conjested with war, burning building, and explosives. We also found that her mother dying and her father going crazy added to our excitement. Not only because Scarlet was going to have to deal with it but because it made her have to grow up and look at herself for advice and hardships in the upcoming future. Bonnie dying on the horse just like Scarlett's dad was also just ironic to us. The death's really opened our eyes on how much life has changed and let us notice all the new technology we have now and should be thankful for.

Rhett (Clark Gable) and Scarlett's (Vivien Leigh) relationship was very intriguing to us because although Scarlet acted hard to get and conceited, we could really tell she cared for Rhett very much. Rhett was a man of luxury, and basically could get anything he pleased, except Scarlet. This we think bothered him and made him stick around longer but then when Scarlet actually wanted him he just didn't care, and picked up and left. It's almost just how young relationships are today, "you want what you can't have".

"...Tara!...Home. I'll go home, and I'll think of some way to get him back! After all, tomorrow is another day!". This shows Scarlett is finally coming to her senses on which Ashley doesn't love her. He loves Melly and always has and always will. Which is no surprise since Melly is a kind,
outstanding character is this movie. She can hide her feeling and know in the end everything will be alright on her end, especially since she has ashley. When Melly dies we just asked ourselves why? all it did was add one more death to this drama fested movie. Then we noticed it lead to Ashley finally telling Scarlet he didn't love her, which for us was the falling action to the movie. This was very frustrating because the entire movie Ashley was being the cheating, trying to be a good guy character in the movie, especially when he kept Scarlet dangling by a thread, head over heels in love with him.

The movie Gone with the Wind was and still to today is a knowledgeable, soap opera. All about the past in the late 1930's. We didn't exactly care for the film with its length and drama filled scenes. Overall we did like it and would recommend it to viewers who haven't seen it and would like to learn more about  our countries past.
